Hello everybody!
Today we are going to learn the usage of “some” and “any”.
We use SOME to talk
about plural nouns and uncountable nouns. The things that appear in a city are
always countable because we can count them (one gallery, two canteens, and
fourteen factories). For example:
There are some
shops
There are some
hospitals
There are some
zoos.
We use ANY to make
questions and negative statements in which plural things and uncountable nouns
appear.
There aren’t any bakeries
There aren’t any
blocks of flats.
There aren’t any
garages.
We can also use “a
lot of” when a thing appears repeatedly in a place:
There are a lot of
flats
There are a lot of
casinos
There are a lot of
cemeteries.
Clicking here you will find an exercise to practice. See you soon!
